Clint Eastwood vs. Lee Van Cleef

Maybe the studio execs couldn’t see them doing anything else except Spaghetti Westerns.

US film executives had no respect for Italian film making back then.

Forgot till recently that Van Cleef worked with Eastwood in Rawhide.

Yes, that’s too bad.

2-3 to Lee for the moment.

Is Rawhide good by the way?

I have not seen it, but I have heard good things about (not often with a fifties to sixties western TV series).

Kick ass song!

Used to view Rawhide in my younger days  , and enjoyed even though after a while all the episodes seem sort of the same. Eastwood is not the brightest of characters in this at times, but does like to chase the ladies instead of the cows from time to time.

Unlike those Bonanza fellas

LEE VAN CLEEF. I even forgive him movies like Sabata returns …
But I believe Clint is a better Director.

Did Lee Van Cleef even make any films ;)?

Nope he was a 100% Actor . According to IMDB HIGH NOON was his first Movie (Wow what a beginning of a career!). Lee is listed twice as sountrack performer: Blood Money and Captain Apache.

Captain Apache - 1# funniest song in a Euro Western ;D.

Captain Apache - #1 funniest Eurowestern IMO

Yes, that too.

Van Cleef gets my vote

Take a guess what my vote was!!

Going with our man flint…er um Clint

went with Clint…

I di’n’t go Clint … that rhymes better

I’ve got the DVD box sets and I still get a kick out of them. Some of the episodes are quite adult-oriented, others are purely escapist. Most of the drovers really look the part, too.

As for this thread, I think Van Cleef was the more capable actor, but for sheer magnetic star power it’s Clint all the way.

In other words, I’m sitting on the fence.
