China 9, Liberty 37 / Amore, piombo e furore (Monte Hellman, 1978)

Hi Shootist

Thanks for that - I checked out the UK Amazon Prime print and it was widescreen and reasonable quality, much better than my DVD-R that I only paid £3.95 for. It ran 103m and contained all the risque stuff - including a couple of nude images scanned off my DVD - although appeared to cut off a bit before the end credits had finished.

My DVD was 98m and I have checked and this was a Pal print so 102m time adjusted. It does mean that the 92m Mill Creek print, unless that was Pal also, was missing 10m. The missing sex scenes were only 6m and I have now found a few other cuts for violence totalling about another 1m30 (the entire stabbing of Matthew was cut) but think I must be missing an exposition scene somewhere. (have amended my posting above)

Even better was that when China 9, Liberty 37 finished on Prime, the film that was next recommended for me and starting playing on auto was the 1968 sleaze American western Hot Spur, which I have never seen and didn’t realise was on Prime either, not least because Prime have it down as a 2024 release.
