The Italian Blu-Ray of A Fistful of Dollars has English audio (and subtitles) and the quality is superb. It is also region free.
It was out of print already but I think they pressed some more discs. I have no idea if these differ somewhat from the earlier press (if they do, maybe some of the extra material like the small book or the postcards are missing?)
The HD version of OUATITW is most likely from a HDTV recording (there is no HD-DVD or Blu-Ray of it).
Iād say most likely the OUATITW he is referring to is the Paramount DVD releaseā¦ if its a downloaded rip then it wouldnāt really retain the HD anyway
That DVD release is crazy cheap, its been $6 everywhere I see it since I bought several years ago. Several times have almost bought a 2nd copy just because its so cheap
Can anyone tell me if Koch is still doing Silver Saddle on Bluray?
Guysā¦more good news straight from the horses mouth. More Fulci, some camps and a western. Awesome. Hereās whatās coming:
Jan. 26 ā THE TOOLBOX MURDERS (BLU-RAY)
Feb. 23 ā THE CRAZIES (BLU-RAY)
Mar. 30 ā VAMPYRES (BLU-RAY)
Apr. 27 ā CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD (Special Edition DVD & BLU-RAY)
May 25 ā DJANGO (BLU-RAY)"
For A Few Dollars More and My Name Is Nobody have actually been available on Mondo Home Entertainment Blu-Rays (and HD-DVDs) for a couple of years now. The discs have no English options though.
I watched For A Few Dollars More on the HD Net channel awhile backā¦good lord the picture was beautifulā¦I really did not want to erase it from my boxā¦unfoutunatly I had to make space for other things
These two images are software-upscaled from a DVD source. Iāve seen a lot of upscaling in my life, and these two are are 100% dvd-ish resolution. A poor attempt has been made to cover up the lack of resolution and upscaling artifacts by sharpening.
This sharpening process ('Unsharp mask or āusmā for experts) can most easily be identified by the while halos around dark, contrasty edges. Also it enhances compression artifacts from the original DVD that were upscaled, sharpened and then compressed again (The blu ray compression algorithm).
All in all a very scammy release, that basically consisted of taking the DVD material (not even the DVD-source, as can be seen by the compression artifacts - dvd source is uncompressed!) and doing a very fast and very cheap upscaling to blu-ray resolution.
These kind of releases should be banned, the producers punished by law. But that is my $0.02
I decided it might be useful for some members to understand what exactly over-sharpening results in, and how it can be recognized. So I made a small illustration with text based on the screenshots I talk about above.
It still doesnāt seem to be listed at Amazon.de for whatever reason, but it seems to have been released since it is in stock at least at buch.de and alphamusic.de
