I wouldnāt be surprised if Arrow gets into the 4K UHD scene fairly soon because, like you say, there are plenty of buyers waiting.
The UK cultfilms release seems to be missing in actionā¦
Neat, I wonāt have to pay over 200 bucks for it now!
Looked at it yesterday and I was rather underwhelmed by this statement, and the description on the disc cover, stating āpartialā English audio.
That statement was never made before or during the pre-sale period. They must have known at that point what they were selling - also I donāt buy this āsurviving versionsā stuff ⦠donāt they mean the source they acquired, specifically?
A film that gets internationally released in English, and all prints have fucked up sound ? ā¦. nahhh, bullshit! 1973 isnāt 1932 !!! loads of prints will have been struck, plus 16mm version for film societies and pan scan versions for TV stations ⦠but no one can locate better than what weāve already seen on a homemade fandub using a VHS as the source.
It occurred to me that as an extra feature the shortened English version no matter what the condition, would have been a better option than adding the bits of English to a 4k scan visual.
Is this UK disc region free? I wonder if I should just get the Kino one with the french dub and english subs because I know it would work on my PS3.
It says Region B on the disc, but I donāt have a multi region player to test if itās locked.
When they say the film was released in the UK in a cut down version and for the release an English audio track was created, do they mean they created a cut audio track and that one is even shorter now because of damage? Or what?
The film was shown in Finland a couple of times about 10 years ago from an uncut print with full English audio track.
I heard that also on FB some years ago (not a member anymore)
Here we go ⦠English language version trailer under the name āThe Specialistā not āDrop or Iāll Shootā or whatever !!!
Amazing that a professional team canāt locate a film by Sergio Corbucci, and yet we get the dregs of the genre available in pristine Blu Ray editions !
I checked now, it was shown four times. Two times in 2007 and then again two times in 2011. This is from brochure in 2011. I highlighted the important part.
but 104min is that the long version?
Yes
So it was dubbed in English then cut down, and not the other way around.
Iām just guessing now so could be complete bullshit butā¦
I guess rights owners donāt have the English audio available for whatever reason. I remember checking what I believe was their website (canāt remember the address anymore) a long long time ago and while it mentioned many languages available for the film, it didnāt mention English.
Eureka has access to the cut UK version and assume that is what exists in English and nothing else? Reminds me what happened with Face to Face and their UK source.
Or less likely, thereās two different tracks like with the A Reason to Live, a Reason to Die.
I would also like to comment on the first paragraph in the Eureka statement. While I cannot confirm which language the film was shown in 1970 in Finland, I have understood that the Nordic countries among some others showed many of these types of films in English language so the tracks were not made just for the English language territories.
Maybe just cut down for Video VHS release ? ⦠I can find nothing online about the film released as āDrop them or Iāll shoot!ā, which sounds like a Carry on style title ⦠and maybe āinspiredā by the towns people made to strip towards the end. Was this a comedy version ?
There are no posters or reviews of any kind, which I think strange, because a few years ago I picked up some old mags, āFilms & Filmingā which reviewed absolutely everything released in the UK - in this 1969 copy there was a review of āKill the Wickedā and some other spags released that month.
There must be some other sources for information on the release of āThe Specialistā.
Btw what about Giraldiās A Minute to Pray, A Second to Die? There is the uncut version as released (it seems) in the UK, and the differently cut MGM version released in the USA, with some scenes not to be found in any other version. Both are completely dubbed, but is it the same dub?
I would love to own this film but the listings on Amazon and ebay confusing as the Blu Rays have the same cover and I need region 2.
DeepDiscount has a War+Western sale going on. To support the SWDb, access it through this link:

Does anyone know if thereās any more news on Koch Media doing anymore SW Blu Rays? So far we know they plan to do Any Gun Can Play (Iāll Go, Iāll Kill Him and Come Back) on Blu Ray which is cool, but I was wondering if any other hints or leaks have come out. Thanks for any info and help Amigos.
