Best Western directed by a Spanish director?

Our Spanish friends from 800 Spaghetti westerns voted for the best western directed by one of their own
The winner is no surprise, but the low marks for Requiem para el gringo are:

Pues al final ganó la favorita, “El Precio de un hombre”, la película de Eugenio Martín.
Muchas gracías a todos por votar."

By the way, I voted for El Precio de un Hombre

No contest I would say.
El Precio would have got my vote too.

I’d probably go for The Bounty Killer too, with JR Marchent’s Gunfight at High Noon and Seven from Texas tying in second place.

The bounty killer , of course

Seven from Texas apparently is the film in third place, Antes llega la muerte

Never seen it, a review on the Spanish site is very positive
Beautiful poster, by the way

My choice would have been, without any doubt, Requiem para el Gringo

What’s this one:

Una bala marcada

Another Marchent brothers flic?

Much better, a Juan Bosch flic-a-brac with lbm PLL.

And where is Condenados a vivir? (Not that it must be there imo)

And there is the Billy the Kidding instead of A Bullet for Sandoval.

Those Spains are real jokers. (Die spinnen, die Spanier)

El Tuncho Maclovia, nuff said

Yeah, but that’s an mexican outing

I guess the Spaniards just adopt Mexican directors as one of their own, like you have adopted Mozart

The director wasn’t even born in Mexico, let alone Spain. But it suits me just fine. This way the Dutch get Lee Van Cleef.

Crap. I forgot about Buchs’ Vengeance is Mine/Bullet for Sandoval - that should be way up there.

Indeed, that’s the original title. A classically styled and structured Western, very nicely done, but perhaps not to everybody’s taste.

I saw this recently (God in Heaven…Arizona on Earth) and I liked it. One of PLL’s better performances for me.

Good movie.

My favorite spanish directed SW is probably Garringo. I also like Cry for revenge aka ¿Quién grita venganza? also directed by RR Marchent.

That one is pretty good, Colonel.

Very interesting Topic: not counting directors from Argentina like Hugo Fregonese, Tullio Demicheli and especially León Klimovsky (Challenge of the McKennas), in my view the best starting grid for a more complete Poll would have been the following one:

El precio de un hombre
Garringo
Requiem para el gringo
¿Quién grita venganza?
Los Desesperados
Condenados a vivir
Sonora
Antes llega la muerte
El hombre que mató a Billy el niño
Clint el solitario
Una bala marcada
Manos torpes
Los buitres cavarán tu fosa
La cólera del viento

But according to Nick Nostro he directed El hombre que mató a Billy el niño in an underhand manner.

Just for the record, on 800 SWs there was also this Poll with pretty shocking results:

Which SW character you like best?

The Man With No Name 61 votos (31%)

Django 60 votos (30%)

Ringo 26 votos (13%)

Sabata 22 votos (11%)

Trinity 15 Votos (7%)

Sartana 10 votos (5%) :o :o :o
