I finally bought a copy of this, and I cannot get over how beautiful it is. The definitive coffee table book!
Fellow GBU-lovers,
Can anyone tell me if Peter J. Hanley’s book “Behind-the-scenes of Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” is now out of print?
Only just discovered this wonderfully-looking book, but all Amazon pages and UK bookstores are listing this as unavailable?
Eagerly trying to get a hold of a copy.
Kaminski.
I reached out to the author. It is indeed out of print, with no re-issues planned.
I think someone,s taking the wee wee with that price… I,m still looking for copy but sensible price… Pedro
“This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing”
Hmm, could the error be the price??
But he has listed it again at £250 with a buy it now at £350. So a bit cheaper now
But oop books in demand do tend to sometimes accelerate in price. This one is hard to find at all. Have gotten a couple of books from this century that are now in the $1000-$1200 price range so what can you do
Think I,ll for a while and see what happens…Hopefully Peter J Hanley will bash out a few more. I don,t mind paying but feel its still well over inflated. cheers. Pedro
I actually ended up buying this for £267. I must be a crazy gringo, but it is brilliant and I was desperate to own a copy. Anyway plenty of material to read now I’m working from home!
El Desperado
absolutely Sebastian that was me. I may have looked at this when it came out back in 2016 and thought that’s a little expensive for a book…Anyway since then I have also bought the all 3 Western All’Italiana books - so I have plenty to keep me occupied…Currently reading Spaghetti Westerns Volume 1 (started again) by Michael Hauss - I want to watch I Want Him Dead (1968) next with Craig Hill.
If I could have had a look into the book, before I bought it, I wouldn’t have had bought it. (for the regular price btw)
I registered specifically to reply to this thread and say I’d very much like to buy a used copy of this book if anyone is done with theirs?
Is there much info on the costuming in the book?
Hi, Jay.
A hearty welcome to SWDB.
There’s a great bunch of folk on here, and I’m sure you will find plenty to keep you occupied.
Regarding the ‘GBU’ book…This has now become a collector’s item, so not sure that you will find it easy to find a copy. Most ‘GBU’ fans will probably cling on to their copies for grim death.
Up until recently, copies of the book were being sold on 'E-Bay, etc, for astronomical prices.
Your best bet will probably be someone who bought two, or more, copies, when it was available, and don’t mind parting with one.
In that regard, ‘SWDB’ is a cracking place to start.
Cheers.
It’s a real shame it’s gone out of print considering there’s obviously demand for it and more sales to be made. I wonder if anyone has scanned/digitized it?
I’m trying to do costuming research and figured there might be some details and nuggets of info in this.
Anyone here who has it willing to share what might be found in this book in that area?
Hi, Jay.
Are you requesting information about ‘GBU’ on ‘SWDB’, simply because you are doing research, or are you interested in all matters SW related?
Whatever… You are most welcome, and I hope that we can accomodate you.
We welcome anyone who loves the genre…
Doing research but also a huge fan of the Dollars trilogy.
Haven’t seen many other SWs to be honest.
Update on the book:

Dear Jay,
The book came on the market in May, 2016. Unfortunately, the book is now sold out. Used copies may occasionally emerge.
I am slowly preparing a follow-up book, which will probably be digital print and softcover. The GBU book is offset print and hardcover.
Best wishes,
Peter
Hi Peter,
I’m very much interested in purchasing your book on TGTBATU (Behind the scenes.)
I can’t find it for sale anywhere. How can I get a copy?
Lets hope Peter J Hanley will bash out a few more copies.
I will say that if anyone is doing legitimate research, and only needs an excerpt, I emailed Peter earlier this year to ask for some specific information, and he obliged by sending me some text from the book.
