Just thought id add there are several well known films that I have not had the chance to see yet, Namely Cemetary without crosses, Specialists, Matalo, Dirty Outlaws, 10,000 dollars for a massacre. My lists may change again soon.

Okay, it’s been almost six months since my last Alternative Big 20. Let’s do this thing:

Now I know I said the last list was sexy, but this list is so sexy that I shall be secretly thinking about it next time I’m getting biblical with the missus.

Only just discovered this thread. A lot of things going on at this Forum. I take it it’s the current SWDB top 20 films which should be left out. Correct me if I’m wrong. I haven’t seen Crisantemi per un branco di carogne or L’odio è il mio Dio.

2 El Precio de un hombre
3 10.000 dollari per un massacro
4 La taglia è tua… l’uomo l’ammazzo io
5 Sartana non perdona
6 California
7 Buitres cavarán tu fosa, Los
8 Sentenza di morte

I think nobody here has.

And you are right about the exclusion of the current (and most likely future) Top 20.

These two most recent lists have been added. I will update the Alternative Top 20 page before the end of the year so if anyone else wants to add a contribution or update their previous lists now is the time.

If you want to update please copy and paste your old list too so I don’t have to trawl back through the pages to find it.

Ok, all new changes have been duly noted and the list updated for the start of 2015.

As usual, no major changes just a bit of reshuffling in the main. Biggest climber is Tepepa which moves up to 13th. Not a bad thing in my opinion.

Here’s a link to the updated list.

Great work once again, Phil

Still interesting that it differs from the top 20 list.

Weakest films for me are California (4/10) and Vengeance Is Mine (5/10)

Best is El puro (9/10)

  1. A Silver Dollar
  2. A pistol for Ringo
  3. Massacre time
  4. Navajo Joe
  5. Texas addio
  6. Sabata
  7. They call me Trinity
  8. Trinity is still my name
  9. Preparati la bara!
  10. Red Sun
  11. God’s Gun
  12. The Grand Duel
  13. Don’t turn the other cheek
  14. Arizona Colt
  15. Adios Gringo
  16. Requiescant
  17. Any gun can play
  18. Johnny Oro
  19. Sartana
  20. Adios, Sabata

Unfortunately you have just missed having your selections added to the latest update, Jesus but I have added your picks to my records and they will be included next time.

I dunno. You deny Jesus and then you wonder why the O’s are having a shocker this season.

I really like that updated list! Still havent seen California. Im a little surprised with the two Sartana movies that made the list before If You Meet Sartana Pray for Your Death.

Most of my top 20 movies are movies that would be in this list:

  1. If You Meet Sartana, Pray For Your Death- Crazy this isn’t in the top 20, soooo perfect!
  2. Blindman- I think this has more great one-liners than any SW.
  3. Today It’s Me, Tomorrow You- Great guys-on-a-mission SW.
  4. Bandidos- My favorite of the Master and Apprentice type SW’s.
  5. The Dirty Outlaws- Great soundtrack and just solid all-around.
  6. Navajo Joe- Brutal movie with an awesome hero and fantastic soundtrack!
  7. I Am Sartana, Trade your Guns for a Coffin- Anytime you put Charles Southwood and George Hilton together you get gold.
  8. The Stranger in Japan- Immensely entertaining, The Stranger at his best!
  9. Johnny Yuma- Mark Damon’s coolest character and a great villainess.
  10. Johnny Hamlet- Enzo Castellari’s best in my opinion.
  11. Hate Thy Neighbor- Two incredible villains make this one.
  12. Ringo and His Golden Pistol- Totally exemplifies a fun matinee B SW in every aspect.
  13. The Unholy Four- Great chemistry in the ensemble makes this very rewatchable.
  14. May God Forgive You… I won’t- Awesome revenge flick with an unforgettable instrumental theme.
  15. Massacre Time- George Hilton and Franco Nero really proved to be a great duo in this one.
  16. The Stranger Returns- More comedic than the 1st, and when Tony Anthony really settled into his persona.
  17. In A Colt’s Shadow- Charming in it’s cheesy way, great instrumental theme.
  18. Seven Dollars on the Red- Simple and yet very disturbing in it’s themes. This one always gets to me.
  19. Blood at Sundown- Great to see Gianni Garko as a villain, and Anthony Steffen rises to the occasion to fight him.
  20. Get Mean- Totally ludicrous Tony Anthony vehicle taking a SW to the limits of absurdity.

You’re obviously a Tony Anthony fan, Berger King. Yet no place for Stranger in Town? Interesting that the most popular Stranger film here (on this list anyway) is the only one you left out.

With a name like that, I was expecting a few more William Berger films.

1 & 3 are part of the Berger King franchise

Phil, I really like A Stranger in Town. It'd be in my top alternative 30 for sure. But what I love about Tony Anthony most is his hilarious delivery of one-liners, hence why I rate his other Stranger flicks higher.
Farmer J, I am a bit ashamed I don't have more Berger stuff as well in this list. Sabata is a pretty great fun SW, same with They Call Him Cemetery ( I wish I could find an English version with a clear soundtrack of that one). But as Scherp pointed out, I have a couple Bergers in there at the top.
