Adios Sabata (Region 2)

Can anyone tell me which of these is the better DVD release?

I’m guessing the MGM one, but thought I should check.

I can answer that one. In fact I will be writing a DVD comparison review for the database on it very soon. But safe to say the MGM release is by far the better. The Pegasus release has an awful picture quality. To be honest I don’t know why they have bothered releasing it when the MGM one is already in the market and still readily available at a decent price. The MGM disc is very good. The Pegasus one, I’m afraid, is a shocker in comparison.

Thanks for the response, Phil, and I’ll go with the MGM release. I realised after I posted that I have the Pegasus release of Storm Rider (The Grand Duel) and the quality is shocking! The picture on the front cover is actually from a different film (The Big Gundown), which demonstrates a complete lack of care. It seriously pisses me off, because people won’t bother buying new spaghetti western releases if they have no reason to expect them to be better quality than bootlegs and DVD rips.

I’ve got the region 1 sabata box from mgm and remember it being very good. I recently bought a region 2 ‘Classic Cowboy Collecton’ version 'cos I can’t play R1 (on that unhackable samshit machine I have). This is wide screen(ish) despite saying 4:3, but it’s grainy and washed out. Is this the same as the ‘Pegasus’ release? (It does have a wing/horse logo secreted on the back - so I presume so). :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep, that’s the one alright. The winged horse is something of a giveaway. ::slight_smile:

i had both dvd’s from usa and uk the uk dvd of mgm has one problem an the big fight at the end when the fight begins
the shootouts goes two seconds back!! first you listen the sound and then you see people fire
