A Stranger in Town / Un dollaro tra i denti (Luigi Vanzi, 1967)

I agree too.

Not the best one, but a good one.

Usually in my Top 20 or bubbling under.

When it comes to good, effective really low-budget ones, it might be the best.

that“s my case, not in my Top 20, but surely in Top 30 ;D

Pretty good. I like it. But I think Return is better.

rytern it’s much much better!

Haven’t watched The Stranger Returns, but I found this one very enjoyable. The Stranger is probably one of the biggest bastards that has ever appeared in sw. Only Black Jack and Bill Kiowa (Today we kill… tomorrow we die!) are more violent than him.
Very good movie, but I have to watch it once again, before I’ll vote.

Vanzi and Anthony wanted to depict the Stranger as a street guy, so it is understandable. But this is nothing compared to the Silent Stranger and especially Get Mean, where he is a real son of a bitch ;D

but what“s so bastardish about Bill Kiowa? he was such a sweet guy

stranger was the most bore character ever! and stupid as well! but in a funny way…

but what“s so bastardish about Bill Kiowa? he was such a sweet guy
I wouldn't say so. ;D In the final duel he kills El Fego (or El Fuego) with undeniable indulgence. A quite sadistic scene. At least I think so. Most of times he doesn't show his emotions, but in the end an hateful feeling comes over him. Stranger isn't rather sadistic, but very violent (it is shocking when he kills that diabolic chica without any scrupulous) ;)

Yeah, indeed, he was quite funny in this one. Neither his character stupid, nor boring IMO, but I can see why some people say so, because he isn’t very impressive (some critics say he was the least impressive sw hero - damn critics, they always makes me nervous);D
However Blindman is a different case. Finally in that movie he can show his real talent. He’s become one of my favorite actors, after I had watched it.
Still it was a nice entertainment to see Tony Anthony as a Stranger, although his role isn’t so elaborate like in Ferdinando Baldi’s movie.

well, i am probably in minority in this, but Stranger is one of my favorite SW heroes, maybe even most favorite

hm, Kiowa. he was for me just ordinary SW revenging hero, nothing more
but when it comes to sadistic behavior of our heroes, i think Eastwood in GBU is really great example

a stupid in town 1967 ;D

haha

I re-watched it today via the boot from the Japanese disc. I always liked it, but now I saw a lot in it which formerly escaped my attention.

The film is much better directed than I remembered it and the near dialogue free atmosphere is fantastic. Maybe even 8/10 now

Yes, one of the most atmospheric SWs.
Maybe you had seen the German DVD, which is strongly cut. I sent an uncut version to a German forum member once, and he told me it seemed a completely different film.

Also, many of the versions have been so dark that you can hardly see what’s happening.

No, I watched it twice before. From german television in open matte full screen and the nearly colorless Alpha Digital boot.

Don’t know why the fun factor of the movie was before only in the 6/10 region. Maybe I was blind

Count me in as a fan, both of the film and of Tony Anthony’s Stranger persona. I was frankly exhausted when I watched this one, usually I wouldn’t even watch a film in this state, not to mention A Stranger in Town is known for it’s slow pace (slow, but effective I’d say) and yet I was entertained, so kudos to the film. I can easily imagine that seeing it rested and in good quality would be an even more of a revelation. Frank Wolff once again proves he’s one of the best actor in the genre. I actually preferred this one to Blindman, I think I will enjoy watching more of Anthony’s films.

Certainly among the best.
