Which SWs were released in both a longer and a shorter version?

Seems so, sadly …

Right so my longer OUATITW DVD will go into my retirement pension pot along with:

LEs Blu Rays of Arrows FoD and TGTBTU
Tim Lucas’s Mario Bava book
The Pistoleros (WE DVD currently £200 on EBay)

Most of the time the english dub was made already in Italy though. Certain films on DVD have no complete english dub, it switches to italian with subtitles for some scenes as you know.

So these films were cut to a shorter version for export. There is a complete german dub for some films though as you have said. So the running time was apparently not the same everywhere outside of Italy.

SWs with english dub were also exported to other parts of the world than US and UK.

So even if a film wasn’t shown in either of those countries doesn’t mean it wasn’t exported to other parts of the world, even 3rd world countries.

In Germany “Run man run” was cut about his criticism about American imperialism, I guess. The Koch Media uncut version proofed it. Al the knocks about the US politics were cut. They did the same to Take a hard ride. All the discussions between the coloured people were turned into uninteresting jokes.

The shorter version has the James Coburn voice, not sure who dubbed James Coburn in the longer version. A few years ago the longer version was shown on UK ITV4 channel and the shorter a week later on the same channel! I can’t remember if the longer version was called Massacre at Fort Holman! The longer version can be found on youtube!

It has also partly different music. I have always called the shorter version Massacre at Fort Holman as that was the title used on short vhs-version I saw. But the same title could have been used on both versions.

Massacre at Fort Holman is the shorter version and I think that was on UK VHS. But the UK Blu Ray of the shorter version is titled A Reason to Live A Reason to Die.

The shorter version has music from Riz Ortolani’s scores for Day of Anger and Beyond the Law. It also has a few extra shots missing from the longer version. I think several of the Italian or Spanish actors are also dubbed by different actors as well as Coburn.
