What Film Are You Watching Tonight?

But do you have the moustache to pull off the look?

Ha, I was going to say the self same thing.

I will be viewing Peckinpah’s BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA, tonight.
This is another one of my all-time favorites!
Nothing like a family-friendly, happy, feel-good movie on the night before Thanksgiving!
ha ha!

Actually, if you watch BRING ME THE HEAD… it could inspre you to be VERY thankful that your life isn’t like that of Warren Oates’ character!

You know, I was just thinking about this the other day…
It seems like everything I watch these days is something I have already seen.
Maybe I am just getting too old and have watched way too many movies in my youth! ;D

ā€œCleanerā€ tonight

No, but at least I will keep nice and warm  .

I will be watching ā€œAppaloosaā€ with Viggo Mortensen.

Just rented the fourth installment in the Terminator series, ā€œTerminator Salvationā€

Never been a great fan of the series (the first one was of course a good, intelligent action flick), but I’m curious nevertheless

Good pick, I’ve seen that about 6 times already!

Seeing as how Minnesota Clay arrived in the mail today, I’ll watch that tonight.

I’m curious about it also… looks like it is maybe a decent sequel. Part 3 was god awful

Think I will venture my first nunsploitation viewing tonight with D`Amato’s Convent of Sinners

Terminator Salvation

Just finished it, and yes, it’s much better than part 3

Story-wise it’s the best part of the series (apart from the original of course), but like the first sequel, it keeps throwing in action scenes: we get flying terminators, moto terminators, swimming terminators, mini terminators and gigantic terminators, and we also get numerous chase scenes, shootouts and explosions. As a result, you’re in danger of losing track of the story, which would be a pity, because there a few interesting ideas and twists on the menu

Overall I enjoyed it

I thought part 3 was decent. Salvation is hard to even classify as a Terminator movie its so different from the others, it just feels like a video game to me, I guess I missed Arnie too much.

Well, Arnie is in it ;), but he looked eh … kinda digital (I haven’t checked yet if it was him or just CGI)

We already had two sequels and a TV-series (haven’t watched it), so I’ll guess we’ll have a few things more

I don’t mind, as long as those things are okay. This sequel felt a little like a video game, yes, but that’s the problem with many of today’s action movies. When they’re not literally based on a game, they at least look like a video game. Many young film makers are brought up with video games, and their way to tell and visualize a story has been influenced by it.

Part 3 had a good-looking terminator of course, but was otherwise average imo

Part 2 was an okay rollercoaster ride, but they had tampered with the original premise in order to have Arnie in the movie: they had turned the frightening terminator of the original into a friendly machine. I felt betrayed.

I thought the original story and atmosphere picked up again (at least a little) in this entry, and, like I said, there are some good ideas in it (inevitably overgrown by all the video game hoopla)

I’m going to be watching Riot in Cell Block 8 to day, just to please ENNIOO.

Thanks  .

You might prefer Riot in Cell Block 11…

Inspired by the discussion on another thread, I will be revisiting the following films, tonight, all by John Woo:

BULLET IN THE HEAD
A BETTER TOMORROW
JUST HEROES (co-directed with Wu Ma)

Riot in Cell Block 11 (Siegel/54)

A tough, violant prison film, documentry in style that has some excellent, dark, brooding photography (I’m not sure if it is Film Noir, however), that compliments the raw acting by the cast. Maybe not as good as the baroque prision melodrama Brute Force (1947), but still a damm good film, despite being marred by a just awful prologue. Highly recommended. 4/5.

Will make an effort over the weekend John to view this one and thanks for your comments.

Thank you! It’s a cracker and I think you’ll like it.
