What Film Are You Watching Tonight?

3.10 TO YUMA TONIGHT the recent version.

I think I’ll throw in $10000 Blood Money tonight.

Went to the video store and got my usual four as it is 2 for 1 day.

Day of Anger

Death Rides a Horse

Fasthand is Still My Name

Johnny Hamlet

I was going to get Yankee but my store apparent;y had it in the Porn section! Probably because of Tinto Brass directing Caligula.
RF: If you are reading this, dont take my Yankee rental attempt as betryal. Just my nurosis.

All the video shops near me have closed down.

Watched it and quite enjoyed it…I think I’ll go throw on some mascara and terrorize my local bar!!!

It’s called ā€˜Manscara’ now Pacificador and is best used with a touch of ā€˜Guyliner’. All very Metrosexual. I’m sure if anyone can carry it off in the wilds of western Canada you can

MAGNUM FORCE (1973, Ted Post)

The second Dirty Harry
Good action movie, but not living up to all expectations, promises and intentions

I’ll say a little bit more about it in a special Dirty Harry thread later
Do we already have such a thread?

Edit: apparently we do: http://www.spaghetti-western.net/forum/index.php/topic,724.0.html

" EASTERN PROMISES" tonight

Saskatchewan…where the men are men and the sheep are nervous.

brutal and nice with a good twist. liked Müller-Stahl in this one

Agreed, great movie.

Burnt Offerings starring Karen BLack, Bette Davis and Oliver Reed

The last time I’ve seen that movie I was still a kid. I remember being somewhat frightened by it and I liked the sound of the musical clock (just love those tunes = dollars/pocket watch; CWC etc.) !

Looks like a good one. I haven’t seen it but I’ve always been an Olly Reed fan. He was always good value.

I’m watching right now ! Really good, recommended movie from 1976 for everyone who’s not expecting anything gory or stuff like that. The flic doesn’t need it and gives you the creeps anyway !!! All y’all try to watch it !!!

The Killer Must Kill Again has been viewed (1975).

George Hilton witnesses a man disposing of a body, who confronts the man. This is handy for Hilton as he strikes up a deal with the man to kill his wife, who is a little fed up with her. The killer does his job in cold clinical style and places her dead body in the trunk of his car. The car is suddenly stolen by a young couple and the killer has to follow them…

The killer is played by Antoine Saint-John (Gutierez in Giù la testa) and is relentless as the killer and is perfect for the part as he shows little if any emotion. Eduardo Fajardo is the suspicious Police Inspector, in this suspenseful little film.

Watched Dirty Harry this aft.

The Arena co-directed by Joe D’Amato flicked across the screnn. Starring among others a voloptous Pam Grier and and a big bunch of (from Italian exploitation cinema) familiar faces… The movie is a very late peplum of sorts just a lot more fun. Pam Grier and a handful of other women gets kidnapped and are set to fight in the arena as gladiators. Obviously a low-budget movie but well-done and very entertaining. Nice score by Francesco De Masi too but not sure if it was lifted from some other movie. Sounded like something I had heard before.

Version watched: Cheap british DVD in full frame.

Umberto Lenzi’s Oasis of Fear was the next in line. Sporting Ray Lovelock and a very yummy-looking Ornella Muti in the leading roles I was surprised that this movie actually starts out in our own Wonderful Copenhagen… The alternative title of Dirty Pictures and it’s setting in the early seventies may give you a clue to why. The Lovelock and Muti finance their holiday by ā€˜exporting’ exotic magazines bought in Copenhagen to Italy but soon they are out of cash again and this is where the movie really takes off. Not like you might expect though. Some movies you just know you are going to like from the outset and this one was one of those for me and is therefore very recommended.

Version watched: Release from Shameless in OAR 2.35:1 and uncut. Not perfect picture quality but all in all ok.
brutal and nice with a good twist. liked Müller-Stahl in this one
I like most david cronenburg films especially being such a big horror film fan and was a bit concerned when he seemed to change to more ā€œrealisticā€ films but they are still compelling and unflinching in their brutality. " eastern promises" i liked most of the way and it was certainly compelling and impeccably acted. i always thought the fight in a little known and underated film " the ninth configuration" was the best i’d seen until i saw the fight in the sauna in this which leaves that one standing. the film for me lost the courage of it’s convictions towards the end and got a little bit softer but it is still a compelling film from a very under rated under appreciatted director.

" The Dark Knight" tonight

Muller-Stahl is always good value and brings class to whatever he is involved in for me. He was in my favourite Barry Levinson Baltimorte film, Avalon, and was excellent.
