What Film Are You Watching Tonight?

Yes ;).

A nice Charlie Bronson Double Feature:

The Evil That Men Do
CittĂ  violenta

Great Movies!

will be rewatching “28 days later” tonight.

Wanted has been viewed (2008).

Story about super hitman and their code. Film is O.K popcorn film, but I become tired of the CGI effects rather quickly.

Just watched Seven Bloodstained Orchids, a giallo with Antonio Sabato. Quite a slow paced film, and not particularly graphic but fun nonetheless. A killer is targeting a group of seemingly unconnected women and leaving a silver crescent on their bodies. Sabato gets involved when his wife is attacked. Like most giallos, this one had a lot of twists and turns and of course red herrings. It was interesting for the fact that the killer was trying to eliminate a group of seven women because he knew that one of them had committed a crime, but not which one, so whilst going about his business he didn’t know if he had already killed the right one!

Was he sporting a rug in the film?

Watched The Designated Victim last night. Uses the same theme as Strangers on a Train … Two strangers meet (one of them Tomas Milian) and the idea trading murders is mentioned. Tomas Milian is to have his wife killed (financial reasons) and he in turn is to kill the others sadistic brother … Won’t mention what actually occurs but suffice to say that it is a pretty entertaining movie. Recommended ! Great soundtrack too with Tomas Milian singing the title tune.

Version watched: DVD release from Shameless (UK) which is a reconstruction work meaning that the quality isn’t flawless all way through. It’s mostly great (in 2.35:1) but sometimes shifts to a lesser quality 1.85:1 print. Still great to be watching the most complete version to date.

Tonight I watch Apocalypse to Joe.

This divides opinion as well - i’m one of those that thinks it a goodie - I believe Phil H and sherpy think otherwise! But what do they know?!

" jessi’s girls" ( 1975) tonight.

watched Maladolescenza and hated it. It’s not that badly made but I hated the story and the characters.

Yeah, they know nothing.

It’s a shitty bore, though.

A bore? Huh. I always thought this one was just non stop action. But I haven’t seen it yet but will probably this weekend.

Just watched the film version of Pride and Prejudice on TV. Geez…truly appalling.

glad to see you’re tastes are not tampered like most women’s seem to be. I’m not an expert on their tastes but girls I would thik would usually like something like that. No offense I hope.

Heh…well, i’m not saying i hate all costume dramas per se (though i don’t like that many)…but this really was a pile of crap…

Unfortunately a non stop action bore. That’s what happens if you do endless action without any ideas. The final half an hour shootout made me begging for mercy.

Schizo (1976) has been viewed.

A young girl of six is subject to seeing her mother killed, and years later when the girl is an adult strange murders begin to occur around her. Around the same time her mothers former lover has just been released from prison after being convincted of killing the girls mother…

This is often a bleak and dark film and being directed by Pete Walker things are not always what they appear, aswell as being subjected to some not bad shock pieces. Walker pays attension to detail considering the low budget of his films, and there is usually a reason for this. We see a cleaning lady always collecting her cleaning clothes from a cuboard and becoming upset when the key to the cuboard is lost, but next time we visit the cleaning cuboard things are a bit different…

Matchless (1967). Another harmless Spy-Adventure of the 60’s. A reporter (Perry “Matchless” Liston) get’s a mysterious ring in a Chinese prison. Believe it or not but this ring makes him invisible. From now on he has to fight against enemy agents and a criminal mastermind. This movie has the typical 60’s style with all the strange dancing and surprisingly the score of Morricone. The Girls are gorgeous to look and the supporting cast includes Donald Pleasence, Henry Silva, Nicoletta Machiavelli and many more. Everyone is overacting and I wonder if Mike Myers has studied this movie before doing Austin Powers. I always like to watch what is going on in the background. In one scene Pleasence is trying talk seriously to Liston and in the back of them the girls are trolling around. It seems that the actors had more fun to make the movie as the audience to watch it.

I watched “Once upon a time in America”, for the second time only. The long double DVD version. Great movie, a true leone pic in all aspects. I am thinking about opening a thread on this in the Town hall. It deserves its own topic, since it is one of the important leone flicks. What you think?

The film itself is just great, i like the structure, pictures and actors. Leone does not glorify the mafia or any underground organization. And noodles is also an interesting character. He is not in it to get the big money or influence, he just wants to make a living and hustle a little. A bit like Juan in duck you sucker.
Max on the other hand, allways wants more, money and power.
What I also like is that so much of the movie is left open.
And noodles is not a nice character either, he has, to say it mildly, issues with women.
A very good mafia film, even though the mafia actions are just a subplot in my eyes. Again it is about friendship (between males, women are only present for pleasure, but have some influence on the major characters) honor and revenge.
Or is it just an opium induced halucination?
