Viva Django / Django, Prepare a Coffin / Preparati la bara! (Ferdinando Baldi, 1968)

I’d be interested in seeing some screenshots as well because I was interested in the Explosive release but never ended up getting because I already had the Arrow one. If it does look noticeably better it may be worth getting.

Great first review, and even greater username!

Rewatched Prepare a Coffin to no great effect.
What me surprises is that the same director made only a few years later the very well directed Blindman. Prepare a Coffin has a few good scenes, especially the one in which Hill gets his revenge on Eastman by smoking out his saloon, but most of the film ranges from mediocre to even bad. As a sequel to Django (the film was designed for Nero) made by the same producer, co-screenplay writer and DoP it is pretty far away from Corbucci’s landmark film, even the photography lacks mostly the dirty atmosphere of the original Django. And the plot is often more silly than necessary. A missed opportunity.

I lower my rating to 4/10

I’m just curious, but dies the blu ray from Explosive include subtitles for the German comedy cut?

This must be a rating for the comedy version, right?

Unfortunately not, I’m always hoping that I will like it more on a rewatch, it’s a Spag I would like to love, but it goes the other way, down, down, down …

You must at least like that Reverbi Brothers score though, right? … right? :worried:

I enjoyed this film! It’s a simple spaghetti actioner and that’s why I like it

I think it’s a solid effort, so I am raising my rating to balance out the negative reviews.

What’s the best version to get of this film? What’s the difference between the international uncut version in German bluray and arrow video 88 min version?

None, I think the 88min is wrong, can someone who owns it provide an exact minute/second count from the player?
