Top 5 spaghetti western actors

I don’t think that Clint estood can be a star of spaghetti genre. It’s not fair to include him, for an actor stopped acting in spaghetti and only made 3 films.

My top 5 list
1- van cleev
2-gimma
3-nero
4-millian
5-kinsky

I think the argument would that without Eastwood the genre would not have garnered the popularity it did.
But i see your point.

1-Clit Eastwood
2-Lee Van Cleef
3-Franco Nero
4-G Gemma
5-Thomas Milian

I am a big fan of Anthony Steffen and put him on a personal list. But I am not sure I could on a Top 5 official one.

In My Opinion a Top 5 of Actors Should be Based on their Acting Performance in Spaghetti Westerns
Not Box Office Draw or Amount of Films they Appeared In

Who would you list as the top 5 then?

1 - Lee Van Cleef
2 - Gian Maria Volonte
3 - Clint Eastwood
4 - Terence Hill
5 - Franco Nero

  • After Consideration I Flipped 4&5
    Placed Hill Above Nero

LOL … at least it wasn’t ‘CUNT EASTWOOD’, which happens with certain fonts, same ballpark though.

Interesting to see Volente on your list. I don’t think he has been mentioned yet.

He’s in 4 of The Essential Top 20 Films
His Performance in Face to Face is One of the Best in All of SWs

How Could He Not be Considered from a Acting Performance Standpoint?

Seriously Surprised Noone Else Has Him Listed

That remark is also valid regarding Robert Woods - if you consider how good a SW actor is and not general popularity.
For me he is a better actor than for example Franco Nero who would not be on my own Top 5.

Runner,
** Edit / Correction **

My Mistake I Thought you were Talking About
Montgomery Wood (AKA Giuliano Gemma)

So My Original Reply is in Reference to Gemma

[[I Can See Folks Ranking Him Pretty High
He was a Very Versatile Actor

He is Definitely in My Top 10
Probably in One of the Positions 6-8]]

As Far Robert Woods is Concerned I’ve Only Seen Him in 2 Films
Black Jack and El Puro
And Personally Didn’t Think His Acting as a Drunk was That Believable
So He Doesn’t Make My Top Ten
That’s Just My Opinion :man_shrugging:

Runner,

I Just Watched “Colt in The Hand of The Devil”
I Thought It was a Likable Typical SW

I watched it to have a better Sample of Robert Wood Movies to Judge His Acting Abilities
He was Good But Didn’t Blow me Away

What Other Movies of his Do you Recommend I Watch ?

Regarding El Puro I think his performance is mostly controlled by the director and the script, but even if El Puro is the number 2 ranked R Woods SW according to me I also think his character there is a bit annoying (too much of alcoholic)- but probably not due to his lack of acting skill.

My number 1 R Woods SW is My Name IS Pecos (7/10 - especially the film as a whole), number 3 Black Jack (7/10), 4 Pecos Cleans Up (6/10 - a little lighthearted sometimes bur Woods OK).

I had never heard of Robert Woods until BLACK JACK was recommended to me on the forum.

So Today I Watched “My Name is Pecos”
I Would Basically Say the Same Thing I Said in My Earlier Post About “Colt in The Hand of The Devil”

It is on my watch list, so if it could match My Name Is Pecos IMO it would be fine.
