In case anyone was wondering / if it hasn’t already been confirmed, the new blu ray from Carambola Diabolik does in fact play on region B. I took a punt after what had already been discussed, and it seems it is another case of only region A being displayed on the back cover despite not being region locked.
Its got a product number of CB001 on the spine which reminds me a lot of Wild East and how they would do the same with WE025 (for example) on the side. Would be great to see this label take off and do something similar. Hopefully they can put out more spaghettis like this one that still need the blu ray treatment, fill in the gaps. BLINDMAN, please! How has no one put that out yet?

Where’s the best place to buy it for us Region B folks?
Well I ended up going directly to Diabolik like @Bill_Willer I believe that’s the only available source at the moment. But on the calendar it looks as though it will be getting an amazon release in December, which may save you about 6 or 7 quid if the current price stays the same. Diabolik were good with shipping time considering overseas. Took about a week and a half. It was going to work out to about 35 before checkout which bumped it up to roughly 43 with add-ons. I was reluctant but I rarely buy anything these days so I went for it. Even if you wait till December, like I said, the savings will likely be negligible if not in the US.

Back on the SW saddle. Saw Guman of Ave Maria / Forgotten Pistolero pop up on the Grjngo YouTube channel in superb quality so gave it a go. I must say, I do love it when I finish a SW and jump on the forum topic for the film and see such lively debate from years gone by. Was quite shocked to see how adored this film is by people here.
5.5/10 from me. I’m sitting comfortably between autephex’s dislike and Sebastian’s love for this one.
Obviously the quality of the production seemed to be on a much higher level than most SW’s, majority, if not all of the camera work was top tier. The cast (and setting) were all stunningly beautiful too, male and female. I think Peter Martell as Rafael stole the show and I wish Pilar Valazquez (Isabella) was given more screen time. I found Leonard Mann a little stiff and wooden as Sebastian. I do think the cast was a little too widespread given the runtime - some lacked a bit of depth and development.
I remember noting down pretty quickly that I felt like this was more or a Spanish/Mexican soap opera with some SW ties, and when reading the thread, I saw everyone have it down as a “family drama” so maybe that’s a better term. The story, nor action, really grabbed me sadly, I felt it was a little slow and stayed in second gear.
I will be rewatching this because I feel like my rating is a bit harsh and with how easy on the eye it is, it deserves repeat viewing.
