If you like Edwige Fenech and bare breasts this may be a spaghetti western for you. This one offers both and in combination.
In short its hard not to recommend a spaghetti western containing nudity.
Its one of the sleaziest spaghetti westerns I’ve seen which probably doesn’t say much. Definitely above average in my book.
Watched the Wild East-release which had an ok picture. Maybe some publisher will put together a Edwige Fenech bluray collection someday and we will get to watch it again in all its glory
Not as sleazy as I had read about this one, and was expecting a bit more naked flesh. Basically for me is a revenge one on slow burner mode, with a power woman who likes a spot of rough sex from time to time. Have three versions to this one, but viewed the Wild East print which looks similar in picture quality to the Iris Media T.V print minus the T.V logo on the print. The english audio on the Wild East print seems similar to my vhs print with all the audio drop outs. Not a bad little number then for Wild East. Film is ok, but was expecting a little better, and the saloon fight in slapstick mode was out of place in this film.
Rai Movie version is missing two of the three shots of Miserere groping the blonde saloon girl played by Dada Gallotti, Edwige’s breasts, the castration threat and part of Basile and Ravaioli’s conversation during the rape.
Both Wild East and Medusa DVDs are uncut, the only difference is that the Italian disc is missing the transition to Wanted poster just before the opening credits.
If something deserves to be called a hidden gem then this is it. Very unorthodox story and cast. The direction is also nice. I was still interested where it was going.
This is a romantic touchy movie similar to Cemetery Without Crosses but less protracted and with more content, interesting ideas and more dialogues. I actually liked it way more than CWC because it was not as slow. 4/5
Jonathan - it sounds as if the Rai version is the Italian theatrical release after cuts for an unrestricted rating.
According to the Italian censors site: Passed without age restrictions in March 1969 after the following cuts: 1) Two of the three shots in which the old man holds his hand on the breast of the girl in the saloon. 2) Flogging of the girl by the women: shot in which her breasts are revealed. 3) Part of the scene and dialogue in which it is decided to rape and kill the protagonist, including the off-screen cries in which the girl says “No… No… No…”. 4) Dialogue and related scene in which the Sheriff’s assistant is threatened with castration.
Quite a weird little film. Not very well made I thought but certainly odd. Topaz was not released until December 1969 so couldn’t have influenced this (Topaz finished shooting in March 1969, the month a finished copy of Tails You Lose went to the Italian censor board).
