SW retrospective Film Forum NYC

Great news! - Per Eric on the SW Web Board:

“One of the most comprehensive retrospectives of the spaghetti western genre is coming soon to the Film Forum in NYC. Can’t wait!” http://www.filmforum.org/movies/more/spaghetti_westerns

I answered that usually when they have big retros like this, it means updated DVD’s are coming out a few months after, as the films are usually cleaned up and updated. It probably will all tie in with Tarantino’s SW (“Django Unchained”) that’s coming out Christmas 2012.

We’ll see!

Awesome! I’m going the 3rd and the 9th. I can finally watch Face To Face and Tepepa.

What an amazing line up of films, wrong continent for me however! It would be amazing to see these on the big screen.

Spaghetti Western special at the Film Forum in New York this month:

Sorry - can someone merge them please?

Just saw this on the Film Forum’s Facebook page

3-week, 26-film Spaghetti Westerns festival starts today! Opening weekend highlights include Corbucci’s DJANGO; Leone’s A FISTUL OF DOLLARS; new 35mm print of Corbucci’s THE MERCENARY; U.S. premiere of complete Italian version of Sollima’s THE BIG GUNDOWN; and much more!

Could this mean Region 1 DVD/BD releases could happen in the near future?

Done!

That’s what I’M hoping! Caught “The Mercenary” at FF yesterday…the gunfight between Musante and Palance is great, everyone watching was into it, sitting still; the movie itself drags in spots, but it’s worth it for that moment.

The fastest SW in the world drags?

Any chance to see these films on the big screen as they were meant to be seen should be taken if given the opportunity. Bravo to the Film Forum for this undertaking. I just wish I was in New York instead of L.A.

Í just wish the kid sleeps and gives e some rest

Here and there…the guy sitting in front of me left in the middle, and the guy to the left of me had his head in his hands a few times…but besides the gunfight, I also loved the music…can’t get enough of that whistling!

I went yesterday and saw “Face to Face” and “Tepepa”. I had a blast finally seeing those two films. I was surprised and a little disappointed with the print of Face to Face however. It was in real rough shape to put it mildly, but I was still happy to watch it on the big screen. The print for Tepepa was great looking! I wish we would get North American releases for these two great films already.

Can watch discs at home.
