SpagvemberFest!

Last film of the spagvemberfest:

30 Lupo: California (1977)
-I actually finished it today so my spagvemberfest contest period was exceeded by half a film. One of the best looking sw’s, great looking worn out sets and autumnal landscapes all soaked with mud. Gemma is good and there’s nice supporting roles by Berger and Undari. Too bad that it doesn’t have a decent script, it looks more like they shot a scene and then decided what to do next. More memorable score would have helped too. 6/10

My theme was to approach the genre chronologically but instead of picking the best films of each year I watched mainly films that I had not seen for quite long time and wanted to re-watch but were so far bypassed in preference of bigger favorites. 2 eurowesterns were exceptions I had not seen before. Also some films I picked mostly because of the recent purchase of dvd. This selection formed a sampling of films that were mostly good but with only few great ones.
All in all, it was great fun but i think I won’t be having any spaghetti for December. I feel kinda crapulous at the moment.

Magnificent Sir…
and 28 different directors if my drunken maths holds fair. :sunglasses:

29 I think. Marchent is Rafael Romero Marchent in both cases.

Mine so far… (only the ones so far seen in Spagvember - there are some big players still unplaced as yet that are still to be seen)… in order of merit…

  1. Cemetry Without Crosses 19.25
  2. Bandidos 19
  3. Face To Face 18.75
  4. Night of the Serpent 17.75
  5. One After Another 17.25
  6. Find A Place To Die 17
  7. A Man Called Sledge 16.75
  8. A Hole in the Forehead 16.7
  9. Duel in the Eclipse 16.66
  10. Killer Kid 16.25
  11. Black Jack 16.1
  12. Dead Men Don’t Make Shadows 16
  13. Five Giants From Texas 15.75
  14. Requiescant 15.5
  15. Shoot the Living, Pray for the Dead 15.25
  16. Cowards Don’t Pray 14.75
  17. A Man Called Blade 14.5
  18. Vengeance For Vengeance 14
  19. Django, Last Killer 13.5
  20. Last of the Badmen 12
  21. Keoma 6

I still have…
The Dirty Outlaws… The Bounty Killer… El Puro… California… $10,000 for a Massacre… Vengeance is Mine… No Graves on Boot Hill… The Return of Ringo… Hate is my God… still to watch (and FAFDM don’t even need to do that) - to almost certainly break the Top 20.

I just noticed I’ve a lot of different directors too - not so many repeat performers - only one Leone, one Sollima… no Corbucci’s (The Great Silence could be due a revisit though?)
and it generally seems that it’s the lower budget spags that rock my boat for the most part.
Blimey!

2 by Caiano as well …

Only 10 days or so until this all comes around again and my twisted deviant self is looking forward to the pleasure and pain of it all. Anyone else drafting a list of 30 for a November 1st kick off?

Yes, haven’t had much time for movies lately but spagvemberfest is definitely worth trying again.

Phil, what is this all about? Watching any 30 spags in one month?

I’m in enought of this insurance claims nonsence

Let’s go!

I’ve had my thirty sorted for some time now. They’re all movies I’ve seen but for the most part they’re movies I’ve only seen once or twice each. A couple of pictures have had more outings than that (Four of the Apocalypse, Django the Bastard, I am Sartana, Your Angel of Death) but they’re long overdue another look anyway. So I suppose, if my SpagvemberFest has a theme this year, it’s “SPAGVEMBERFEST 2016: A FISTFUL OF REAPPRAISALS”, or something.

@ Morgan

Yes, exactly that. last year I tried to re-watch my top 30 (almost made it). This year I’m selecting another 30 from the “next best” level. Considering also doing a Sartana intensive along the way too but we’ll see.

I think it’d be a good idea to start a topic of it’s own for this year. What do you think?

Hmm. Timing couldn’t be worse. My wife works her last working day on Friday… But I’m in, probably.

I was going to start a dedicated thread on the 29th or 30th or so, but the subject has been raised here on the old thread and, tbh, I’ve no objection to SpagvemberFest 2016 staying in here, and this becoming a general “SpagvemberFest” thread which we can pull out of mothballs and visit once per year, like a Christmas jumper or a daytime prostitute. Saves making multiple threads on essentially the same subject.

So far I’ve picked around 10 films for spagvember. Some Carnimeo, Valerii and Bud will be included and some bluray upgrades I haven’t checked. Otherwise I don’t have any particular theme this year.
