Spaghetti Western Sunday at Banks Street Bar in New Orleans!

Hello Everyone!

I’m really excited to post on this amazing website! I’ve been coming to the SWDB for a few years for great info. I’ve been hosting Spaghetti Western Sunday in New Orleans for a little over a year now at Banks Street Bar. We show a Spaghetti Western and have a band play during the intermissions.

We usually play three segments of movie and have three sets of music. Our regular band is Ron Hotstream and the Mid-City Drifters but we’ve had a few bands fill in over the year as well. While Ron & the Drifters are touring in Germany we have the Scordatura String Band Filling in. We’ve had a GREAT time the last year showing a Euro Western almost every Sunday along with great music. Our bands are:

Ron Hotstream & the Mid-City Drifters

Nola County

http://www.nolacounty.com/

The Scordatura String Band

Johnny Angel and Helldorado

I hope if any of the great patrons of this site are ever in New Orleans for the weekend that you come See Us at Banks Street Bar!

While we normally exclusively play Spaghetti Westerns, we have opted to play a few American Westerns for different reasons recently. We showcased The Magnificent Seven in honor of the passing of Eli Wallach not so long ago. While Ron Hotstream & the MidCity Drifters have been in Germany, we replayed the Dollars trilogy and continued with the Westerns Clint Eastwood made in the US after The Good The Bad and The Ugly. This has been an amazing experience with the Scordatura String band playing music from each of the movies played during their residency. Here’s a listing of what we have played in the last year and I hope you can make it out to New Orleans.

First off, this sounds really cool and if I was anywhere close I would definitely be there! Second, a question: What sources do you usually use to show your films? I noticed you have a few fims listed that don’t have US releases like Face to Face :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Johnny! Thanks, it really is a great time. I use laptops and an Epson projector. I hook up my sound through the PA. My old laptop is set to region 2 for the titles I have no 1 or 0 region dvd. My only limitation is making sure I have an English dub. English subtitles helps out a lot being a noisy bar.

This Sunday August 24th we’re continuing our journey with the American Eastwood Westerns with High Plains Drifter! Music Provided by the Scordatura String band during the intermissions! I’ll also be cooking Butterbeans with pork in a tomatillo/jalapeno base - Mexican Rice too!

If I lived in New Orleans I would be going to this place every day lol.

Definitely. Makes me want to kick off the inaugural “Spaghetti Western Sunday in Pitsea, Essex” but it’d probably just consist of me watching/falling asleep in front of a Spag after my Sunday roast.

Thanks! We have such a good time
