From: The Last Killer
Sorry I ended up not visiting any of the places. i guess I’ll have to go back very soon (oh no, haha)
Would you recommend Sardinia as a tourist destination - don’t know much about it?
Holy shit yeah. This was the fourth year in a row for me. It’s fantastic.
So I am here again (like every year) and I will likely make it to valley of the moon. I will post pictures
Update: I am close to the “wrong” moon valley so not sure if I make it
Can someone post screen grabs of movie scenes filmed in the Valley de la Luna?
So I went to the “wrong” valle della Lina it is a fantastic hike nonetheless. I could even imagine it for a western location from some angles:
I just remembered - I did mention the other location on the Sardinia location page. ![]()
Yes but I still went to the wrong one on purpose because it was close by and a nice hike
I think the upper picture also reminds of some vistas in Pistoleros/Ballad Of A Gunman , or I might be wrong as those I refer to should be part of former Yugoslavia or…?
Or could I actually be referring to another scene in Pistoleros which I several years ago thought might be the same mountains as in Pecos Cleans Up 1967. I talk of distant camera position and guys riding along a semi-steep mountain “lomas” in Spanish ?
Do we know that there were Yougoslavian locations in Pistoleros for example the western town or might that also have been shot in Sardinia ?
Have a look at the Pistoleros movie page and the location link to Croatia.
You seem to refer to this post
According to Giusti it was (ex-)Yugoslavia too. He quotes an interview with Caltabiano, who talks about his experiences in former Yugoslavia.
Personally I think too it was filmed overthere, the town looks like those towns in the Winnetou movies and Yugoslavia can be quite dry. The entire region (South-East Italy, Croatia, Albania) is known for long, dry periods, alternated with periods with a lot of rain. Furthermore it’s an Italian-German coproduction, there’s no Spanish involvement. Yugoslavia was the German Wild West, so to speak (the Indians were immigrant workers)”
Maybe Pistoleros had scenes from both Croatia and Sardinia
I have no screen shots available though but at least those common with Pecos Cleans UP then should be from Croatia.
Very interesting that your posted screen shot from Django The Last Killer was from Sardinia.
And further relatad complications might be that some movies even could have reused distant shot riding scenes from other movies .
How, off topic, was it about the last scene or so in Sabata (as Aldo mentioned several years back) when the guy riding doesn´t look like Lee van Cleef but maybe just any Spanish local guy/caballero used to perform at their ferias, and maybe not taken from another movie.
The Feria Rosario each October in Fuengirola (where I stay in the winter season) always have Horse shows with those traditional dressed men with a ceartain stiff back riding style ![]()
