Post 1977-spaghettis

Most people tend to mark the end of the Spaghetti-western era with the films Keoma (76) and Mannaja (77). But as we all know there´s the odd ones made after that point as well, no real classics, but some of them fun anyway. I just thought it might be nice with a list with all those films made after the deciline in popularity of the Italian westerns, i only know of a handful on the top of my head, so a proper list would be nice. Any help appreciated, only Italian films included and only those taking place in the wild west… comedies and pornos as well.
(if such a list or a similar one allready exist, a nod in the right direction is all that´s needed!).
For a start:

1978
La ciudad maldita - Juan Bosch
Silver Saddle (Sella d’argento) - Lucio Fulci
China 9, Liberty 37 (Amore, piombo e furore) - Monte Hellman

1979
Porno erotico western - Angelo Pannaccia

1980
Siete cabalgan hacia la muerte - Jose Luis Merino (spanish)
Chicano - Jose Truchado Reyes (spanish)

1981
Buddy Goes West (Occhio alla penna) - Michele Lupo
Comin’ at Ya!- Ferdinando Baldi

1983
Al oeste de Rio Grande - Jose Maria Zabalza (spanish)

1984
Arrapaho - Ciro Ippolito
Al este del oeste - Mariano Ozores Jr. (spanish)

1985
Blood Church - Tom Vacca
Tex and the Lord of the Deep (Tex Willer e il signore degli abissi) - Ducio Tessari

1986
Scalps - Bruno Mattei
White Apache (Bianco Apache) - Bruno Mattei

1987
Django Strikes Again (Django 2: il grande ritorno) - Nello Rossati

1991
Lucky Luke - Terence Hill

1993
Jonathan of the Bears (Jonathan degli orsi) - E.G. Castellari

1994
Troublemakers (Botte di Natale) - Terence Hill

1995
Trinita & Bambino - E.B. Clucher

1998
Gunslinger’s Revenge (Il mio west) - Giovanni Veronesi

1999
Wild West - Nicky Ranieri
Wild Bitches (Cacciatori di Taglie) - Nicky Ranieri
Calamity Jane - Joe D´Amato

2005
Palle in canna! - Guido Maria Ranieri

i´ll keep filling in the blanks, any additions welcome!

Tex and the Lord of the Deep?

I was thinking about that one, but from what i remember it was more of a Indiana Jones thingy… only small western-like part at the start, or am i mistaken? was some years since i saw it (and didn´t like it much).

And what about Jonathan of the bears, Scalps and White Apache?

These are probably all. Pretty unimpressive.

Some spain films amongst them, but why not include them. It’s a short list anyway.

There are also 2 Lobo negre films set in 1849 by Rafael Romero Marchent from 1980. Don’t know if these are westerns or more likely Zorro type variations.

(Stanton) #6

Definitely mostly a western, but with some Indy and fantasy influences.

Arraphao - Ciro Ippolito
(sex or porn or both)[/quote]
Neither, it’s a stupid comedy according to the information i’ve got

(Silence) #8

1978
China 9, Liberty 37

(Stanton) #9

Right, I changed it

(magnus) #10

Ok, maybe should give it another try then!?

Thanks for the additions, i´ll put them in the first list! Yes, it´s not that impressive, wich is what i figured when i started it, a good chance to track them all down. Could be a bit of fun.
and yes, the Spanish should definatly be included as long as it´s proper cowboy-westerns and not some kind of Zorro-variants…

I´ve never considered this one a real spaghetti, because of two criterias 1) directed by an american 2) the swedish vhs tape of it is almost impossible to find, so it´s good to have it off the list when collecting swedish spaghetti tapes…hehe! well to tell the truth i haven´t even seen the film, can include it and get the dvd, just to make the list a bit longer.

Return of Django.
From my recollection this, pretty damn horrible film, takes place in South America, does my memory play a trick on me here as well, like with Tex?

It’s supposed to take place in Mexico i think. If i’m not mistaken it was filmed somewhere in South America

(Stanton) #15

It’s more Rambo than Django, but it’s still a Django (and with Nero) and the locations are mostly not too western like, but also definitely a western, albeit a mediocre and unnecessary one.

(magnus) #16

Ok, it will have to do then.
How about these two Stanton;
1980
Siete cabalgan hacia la muerte - Jose Luis Merino
1980
Chicano - Jose Truchado Reyes
couldn´t find them on the database…?

(Stanton) #17

I know nothing about them. They are out of a german SW book with no explanations, not even a short synopsis. Only the credits.

As this book also lists half westerns and films with only a few western connections, both maybe are not even real westerns. IMDB lists the Merino film at least as a western.

I never noticed, probably because I haven’t watched it yet, that this was directed by Monte Hellman… I was just watching Two Lane Blacktop the other night and thinking, I need to find some other Monte Hellman films. I had no idea he’d have an entry in my favorite genre!

(magnus) #19

Updated the list with a few pornos, don´t know how much western content it is in those, and judging from the “giallo-porno” Terror in the grove, i´m not so sure i want to find out either… but seems to be the only westerns from Italy in the last years…

(Silence) #20

1978
Sella d’argento

1989
Quattro carogne a Malopasso
