Nudity in spaghetti westerns
To me, what’s more controversial than nudity in spaghetti films is Leone’s really revolutionary use of marijuana smoking. I’m surprised more people don’t mention this and discuss it, especially in For A Few Dollars More. El Indio is not only a paranoid, jealous, sadistic killer, he’s a doper!

Sort of surprised it didn’t get more criticism in the United States.
That was always implied, never proven. Rolled tobacco looks just like rolled weed. Coburn was smoking something suspicious just before he died in DYS. Hell, Ive seen John Wayne rolling his own, and no one thought he was a hophead. Besides, he died of cancer, so if it was weed, maybe it was for medicinal purposes. lol

Pretty sure Indio was smoking pot. At one point, he’s just sitting there in a daze and Mario Brega (pretty sure it’s him and not Aldo) puts it in his mouth for him. He’s obviously stoned.

It just seems unlikely that a stoner would be an authority figure, or inspire fear or respect in his men.

If I may, I’ll introduce myself on this thread. I am Danite. Good afternoon and may The Good Lord forgive you sinners in your ungodly quest for nudity.
I have been through some of my films to check out a coupla hunches but in some cases my memory proves difficient. I was certain that Death played the Flute contained some nudity but it stops just short. However - according to Weisser’s book, Porno-Erotic Wrestern is Requiem for a Bounty Hunter, (which is Death played the Flute) - but with added hardcore sex scenes. I havn’t seen this foul abomination but maybe thats where I got confused about DPTF.
On one of the other threads(?) Bill San Antonio asks about Gunfight at the OQ corall. I am appalled to say that this does contain an inordinate amount of nudity. At times however it seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the plot! Either they’ve cut some story out of my print or maybe some bits of squelching are just grafted on. It is pretty hardcore tho’ but hilarious at times (God forgive me). The bit where they’re full-on at it on a moving horse, and particularly where one of the gang gets bitten by a snake ('scept it’s a constrictor) and gives all his share of the money to the whore so he can shag his way to the grave as the poison(?!) takes hold is hilarious … with the others cheering him on… however - some bits are plain nasty. The rape scene is one of the worst I’ve seen and unecessarily gratuitous - adding nothing to the understanding of the story … but whadda I know - I dont speak French or read Dutch.
Anyway - I am a man of the cloth - remember, I watch this evil so you don’t have to.

Am I doomed if i want to? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah! What he said!

do you think he is serious?

Maybe he knows something we don’t

Amen

I was doomed years ago so all the sex and violence I watch makes no difference.

Right on, brother!

Not that i care, hell may be not a bad place to be after all :stuck_out_tongue:

What does the good Reverend think of the “Hallejujah” films

And the second question: what does he think about “Black Killer”?

To get back on topic, has anyone mentioned “Apache Woman” in this thread yet? Doesn’t that have quite a bit of nudity in it?

Flynn

A bit more.

Ah, good! I’ll have to check it out one of these days…

I like this film, well worth seeking out.

Excellent. Is there a good English-dubbed or English-subtitled edition around? The database lists a Spanish-language only disc which Xploited Cinema offers but that’s the only one I’m aware of…

I only know of this official DVD release you mention, which like you say is not in English.

I viewed the film from an old U.K pre-cert VHS tape, that I no longer have.

Hoping an english audio DVD comes out soon.
