Noir & Neo-Noirs

Again! I gotta post more…

If anything I gotta keep my eyes on I…I…

Any hints? :-\

as your boy Silence would say if he were here
" … … … … … . …"

This was released at the very last days of noirs that isnt considered neo-noir…

Oooh, thats cold.[quote=“I…I…Idiot, post:163, topic:1786”]as your boy Silence would say if he were here

Well, is it any of these?

The Crimson Kimono (have you seen it?)
Mudrer by Contract
Odds Against Tomorrow

What is that! How many guesses do you get? That’s like saying ‘is it any of these?’

The Killers
The Killing
Le Doulos
The Big Sleep
Odd Man Out
Raw Deal
Blast of Silence
Kiss of Death
Crimewave
Double Indemnity
Night and The City
High and Low
Act of Violence
This Gun for Hire
Behind Green Lights
The Asphalt Jungle
Crossfire
Gun Crazy
He walked By Night

& if it’s on the list, don’t tell him!

“The horror…the horror.”

Please don’t hurt me.

Alright, myfinal guess is…The Crimson Kimomo

Sorry Go fish Korano…

You can still guess again though…

I finished watching all the films in the film noir box-set I got a few days ago and I rate them in the following way.

The Killers 9/10
Double Indemnity 9/10
The Big Steal 6/10
Crossfire 8/10
Out of the Past 8/10
The Blue Dahlia 8/10
Farewell My Lovely 7/10
This Gun For Hire 8/10
The glass key 8/10

I paid £21.89 including postage and VAT and I must say that its a steal at that price.

Why only seven? It has all the Noir ingredients. Prehaps you don’t like Dick Powell playing Philip Marlowe (I thourght he was the best screen incarnation of Raymond Chandler’s private detective).

Actually that’s spot on, I wasn’t crazy about Dick Powell’s performance.
With a better lead I would for sure have given the film 8/10 maby even 9/10.

Just saw Ride the Pink Horse…Nice little film with some great dialogue and photography…
Also some nice scenes of brutality… Thanks to Korano for the recommendation…

Was that on DVD? How was the quality of the print Rififi? I’m very keen to see this one as well.

This is the print I saw…Its a vhs rip put onto youtube…Vhs is apparently the best copy of this film around.
Check this place out that sells the rarest noirs around in allegedly great quality…

Agreed, FAREWELL MY LOVELY is damn near perfect. Except for that little matter of Dick Powell, he just didn’t work for me, and i’ve never even heard him croon.

I think I’m gonna watch some film noir tonight. Don’t know which yet. How is Man Who Cheated Himself?

I am incredibly jealous of that box set, by the way. The only ones i have on DVD are OUT OF THE PAST and FAREWELL MY LOVELY. The rest i have taped off TV.

I heard that Armored Car Robbery is coming out in a couple months in a box set. Which box set is that? Anyone know?
