New dvd's from the U.K!

Coming to region 2 DVD in September -

Man Of The East
The Hills Run Red
Navajo Joe
The Hunting Party
Doc

It seems that they will be released by Optimum Home Entertainment. Will they be the same as MGM? I think so because Optimum has bought Momentum which used to release MGM discs in UK.

Some of these will be cut though by the BBFC for ‘Horse Falls’ for sure, and The Hunting Party may be cut for violence aswell.

Have to wait and see I guess, and I am aware these things do not matter to some though.

but probably just rereleases of their RC1 equivalents…

certainly will buy " the hills run red" and “navajo joe”

I already own copies of ‘Nav. Joe’ & ‘Hills Run Red’, but I’ve never seen ‘Doc’ and ‘Man of the East’…Are they any good? I vaguely remember ‘Doc’ being on TV many years ago, but I was only a child at the time…I seem to remember it was about Doc Holiday & Wyatt Earp…
Also, I strongly suspect that ‘Nav. Joe’ (one of my favourites) will be cut to pieces by censors…

I don’t know what was missing but DOC was definately cut here as was HUNTING PARTY

Interesting.

I used to do O.K selling the old big box Warner VHS of The Hunting Party aswell in VHS days…

not if they’re NTSC->PAL conversion…

Ulrich Bruckner from Koch Media stated on the Spaghetti Western Web Board that the same releases are coming out in Germany also (that we knew) WITH more bonus features so I would save my money and go for the German releases.

wasn’t aware about the hills run red, but that they’re releasing navajo joe of course everybody knows by now

Oh yes, they are releasing the same bunch.

Optimum didn’t buy Momentum - Goldman Sachs did. The reason why titles which Optimum are now releasing but which Momentum released before (such as Terminator 2 etc) are all Kinowelt titles, which Momentum have lost the rights for. Optimum have bought those rights and can now release the catalogue.

we need into on the UK disc. Anyone have it?

I don’t own it but the BBFC website (http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classified.nsf/c2fb077ba3f9b33980256b4f002da32c/cb441cc122fc5e4780257512005dbbed?OpenDocument&ExpandSection=2#_Section2) says the following:

“Distributor was required to remove a shot of an illegal horse fall in accordance with BBFC Guidelines and Policy.”

sigh pointless censorship as usual
