Macho Killers / El macho (Marcello Andrei, 1977)

Artwork wise, yes. Haven´t seen the Greek version though. Is it letterboxed like this one?

Just checked to make sure…yes, it’s letterboxed.

As said above, not bad but nothing particularly impressive.
Monzon does OK without actually being any good, Hilton doesn’t disgrace himself either but has been in much better.
The soundtrack, however, for me, was generally poor.
Certainly not a film which was ever likely to revitalise the genre.

Recently picked up a VHS to this one, so gave it another view. Carlos Monzon does have a different look to him for a western hero, and he is used to better effect in other films. George Hilton looks like he is dressed for the Opera or something with his white scarve and gloves. He acts like his characters name though… The Duke. Enjoyed this one a bit more than last time I viewed, fun watching Monzon trying to remain calm as he infiltrates Hilton’s gang.

A fine piece of work, tomas.

Another SW in which bolas are used is The Long Day of the Massacre by Alberto Cardone.

Thanks JC - interesting, haven’t seen that one

Actually, wouldn’t know about The Mercenary too, but it was mentioned on bolas wiki page :open_mouth: - but yes, it is in the arena scene, all right

I wasn’t expecting much and I ended up enjoying this one quite a lot. Nice to see George Hilton as a villain. I also thought Monzon was quite likeable.
