NEW STUFF IN AND AROUND THE SWDB IN
JUNE 2025:
Emerging, ongoing and future improvement projects
Keeping this really short this time due to workload and heatwave. In short: We seek more contributors: cross checking and adding to location guides, filling gaps in the database on business and release data, adding VHS and Soundtrack release information, writing reviews on overlooked films, and much more.
… as always: join the SWDb, help out, it will make it better
You don’t have to become a full time editor or official staff to contribute. Anything from being active in the forum to correcting mistakes to joining entire improvement projects is more than welcome. From all over the world, in all languages, we welcome help!
Those of you who feel inclined to donate a dollar or euro or yen or real or whatever, head here. PayPal has improved the donation experience, check it out - and you don’t even need a PayPal account to donate. Also, whenever you shop at Amazon, click on one of the SWDb’s Amazon links first, it doesn’t matter which one and what you buy. We can really use the cash to beef up the server infrastructure, and if we can get enough donations we should finally hire someone to fix some major issues with the underlying tech to make the SWDb better and safer again. Home video news:
I know that’s what you came here to read, isn’t it?
In June we got a really interesting soundtrack release, see review further below in this newsletter, as well as a US release of the spoof Rustlers’ Rhapsody and - interesting mostly for the Germans - new editions of the Trinity films which may end up being (while not perfect) the best editions of these films in Germany so far. Censorship reports and reviews are only coming in, so keep an eye out!
July will bring re-issues of various French releases, and what’s also interesting is Eureka’s (UK) foray into East German DEFA westerns, with a first release slated.
Please note that our calendar also has plenty of titles reaching all the way into December, with a few more to be announced very soon we think (UK, Germany, France, possibly others)! So stay tuned.
And to reiterate this: A Fistful of Dollars was released in May, (learn more and buy), For a Few Dollars More as well (learn more and buy) and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (including the documentary Sad Hill Unearthed) will arrive in August (learn more and order). Please note that the first is already sold out with a “regular” edition on the way, the same will happen to the others, so make sure you pre-order to secure the nice looking ones. Reviews of these discs are overwhelmingling positive, the fact is that these are so far the best versions of these films on home video (some dissenting opinions to exist). It is time for some other publishers in Germany and France to follow suit, for example.
Plase do egularly check the calendar, we often update it several times a day!

Obituaries
Our head of obits, the spaghettiologist @Tom_B had to update the boot hill cemetery with an unfortunate 9 new obituaries over the course of the last four weeks, including Hunt Powers, Alvaro Vitali and Lea Massari.

Reviews:
Please contact us if you want your reviews published. We are especially looking for reviews of movies that have no, or very few, reviews in the SWDb. We publish them in all languages, and you don’t need to be a professional writer!
