Home video news:
July was a month with the fewest releases so far, but at least those that did come out were quality releases: the US release of Red Sun is an excellent package (despite some reported issues with Panasonic players), and the just very recently launched collector’s edition for Keoma is an enormous edition, too.
August will be interesting on both sides of the Atlantic. Django Shoots first gets releases in the US and the UK (the US release is unfortunately not listed on Amazon, as Kino seems to have turned its back on Amazon entirely). The Grand Duel comes out in France, and then there are some DVD releases in Sweden and some re-issues elsewhere.
Check the calendar regularly, we often update it several times a day! We suggest bookmarking it.

JPC and FNAC
We have expanded our coverage of FNAC (France) links in the SWDb and we joined JPC (Germany, ships internationally quite well) partner programs. If you use any of these two, please use our links for shopping (even if you end up buying something else). This adds to our links for Amazon USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands and Sweden, as well as DeepDiscount and MoviesUnlimited links that we have in there. Obituaries
Our head of obits, the spaghettiologist @Tom_B had to update the boot hill cemetery with an unfortunate 9 new obituaries over the course of the last four weeks. Rest in peace!

Tired of Faceb00k (like us)?
For page owners like the SWDb, it’s a tiresome effort and the corporations milk us in the cage they have locked us in. So we much rather welcome and meet you all on here on our own message board - no ads, no fees, pure freedom.
One thing we’re currently trying is BlueSky, which is sort of like Twitter when it was still decent. If you’re on there, see you also on BlueSky, where we have surpassed the mark of 830 followers this week.
Lastly…
CG brought Django back to Italian theaters (see all screenings here). If you followed it on social media, the new restoration is being screened around the country. Unfortunately, they were prepping a 4K UHD release, but only if they got to at least 400 pre-orders through their crowd-funding-like thing on their website they call a “start up”. Not surprisingly, they missed that target. What a stupid move on their part. Now that release is canceled. Instead of just releasing it, and getting sales on varoius online shops and in locals stores, they relied on the few people who a) knew about their “start up” and were b) willing to place a pre order there to gauge general interest. That failed colossally. CG really fucked that one up.
And one more thing…
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly returning to French cinemas August 5, check your theatrical listings.
It is also playing at the Prince Charles Theater in London (unclear if also this new restoration) on August 7 and 12.
