Found myself enjoying it a bit more than my first watch. Bumped it up to a 3.5/5 from a 3/5 for my personal ranking. Still not a top tier one but you get a great duo with Milian and Balsam.

I found The Councillor pretty awful if I’m honest, a mindless movie absolutely killed by the phoney dubbing and totally shallow script. The emotional ending left me absolutely cold.
I was surprised it was almost entirely America rather than Italy based. A few real American character actors and real would have possibly made it decent.
Watched “Milano Calibro 9” recently. It has a brilliant score written by Bacalov. Both Gastone Mochin (“Don Fenuccio” from Godfather II) and Mario Adorf are quite good in it.
Pistilli and Wolff are also in it, but the director later said he should have cut their scenes citing pacing, and I think he’s right - the money to hire them (in what would have been tiny supporting roles without their discussions) would have probably been better spent on better sound effects at the final villa shootout. But it was Frank Wolff’s last noteworthy film before he sadly committed suicide.

Milano Calibro 9 is a near masterpiece. Best film of the genre (unless you count OUTIA as one).

Just watched “Investigation of a citizen beyond all suspicion”. It’s worth watching (Gian Maria Volonte’s most praised performance).
