Thought the man deserved a special In Memoriam on our Site:

There’s also a Review of what many think is his best western:

Fantastic! Seven from Texas sounds mighty good, I think I’ll be watching a few of Marchent’s films in the coming days in memory of the maestro.

The word “masterpiece” sounds pretty odd in the context of Romero’s westerns.

I probably haven’t seen Antes llega la muerte, but I’m sure I have watched El sabor de la venganza, and I can’t remember anything special in this film, apart from competent directing.

Great Director ! I love his Tres Hombres Buenos and Gringo getta il fucile !
R.I.P. Joaquien ! :’(

‘Masterpiece’ : Relatively speaking of course. No Dollar quality, but his movies are the best pre-Leone movies I’ve seen so far, and I’ve seen quite a lot in the meantime.
Antes llega la muerte is definitely the better movie of this pre-Leone couple, and I think it’s my favourite Spanish western along with Requiem para el Gringo, but the letter is more an interesting film, out of the ordinary. Antes llega la Muerte might be a bit too melodramatic to some, but if you can accept that, it’s the better movie of the two.

Great Job Scherp. I think he’s just as accomplished writing scripts for SWs as he was directing them.

Yes, nice work scherp… I have not yet seen Antes llega la muerte- will bump it up to the top of my viewing pile.

Hmm… actually, I just noticed I only have the Italian language version of Antes llega la muerte… checking the database I see that only this version and a Spanish language DVD are listed

Are there any others out there?
