Just been browsing at HMV, and got caught by the premium collection sale tractor beam! 2 for £15 … there’s also a lot of Arrow titles and BFI in the sale … delicious!
Oh I love The Omega Man! The score by Ron Grainer is terrific, based in part on his music for The Prisoner, but in a far more lush arrangement. It also features quite a brave performance by Charlton Heston, unafraid to show himself as a bit saggy and balding - he’s getting tired and won’t be able to hold out forever.
This was the first title in the sale to catch my eye - I already have the WS VHS from years ago and the DVD … so in theory this should be the last time I need to buy the movie There are so many excellent classics available now at an affordable price, I could have gone a bit crazy and blown all my dough very easily.
I bought four of them (See above) and I still regret not buying some…Little Caesar and Public Enemy looked so fine
You need that one, whatever else you do!
I think I will pick up the this box
Those are great films but in no way film noir.
What are WB thinking?
Blue Undergrounds release of Two Evil Eyes including the score turned up today:
I know buying stuff for yourself just before Christmas is risky but I couldn’t help myself and figure no one else was likely to cough up the £55 for me anyway.
Very nice set. Bought them all as single releases else would jumped on it too.
Same here, I’m missing two or three from the box set but that will not make me buy it. I wish Arrow went the other way around first box - then singles. I can imagine that alot of buyers double dip with these titles already as it is
My exact dilemma, and it annoys the shit out of me.
I only had the first three films of the set already, so this was a good buy for me as I missed out on getting the original single editions with the booklets included.
I don’t post here a lot, but I just had a look at my shelf and asked myself, what were the really great additions of the year, and the top five (non-SW) are probably these:
Black Emanuelle 4-movie box with soundtrack Black Emanuelle/BluRay - The Grindhouse Cinema Database
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (4K version with BluRay and Vinyl etc…) Once Upon a Time in Hollywood BluRay - The Quentin Tarantino Archives
Apocalypse Now (Steelbook includes 4K version(s) and all kinds of extras)
Obviously amazing: The Leopard
Got the Black Emanuelle box on my wishlist also although it only includes the softcore versions.
I didn’t realise Koch released Il Gattopardo. I have the Criterion blu-ray myself.
Amazing film indeed.
that’s one way to put it, the other is, that the box includes the theatrical versions and the company doesn’t release hardcore versions
