I only know:
Django - Den Colt an der Kehle (Chiedi perdono a Dio… non a me)
1000 Dollar Kopfgeld (Il Venditore di morte)
Rocco - Ich leg dich um (L’ultimo Killer)
So there will be much for me to explore…
It can be good to explore…
All the other films are only average. Not the stuff I intend to watch again.
Sheeet. Didn’t they get my wish list, which I haven’t sent them?
I guess it boils down to whatever’s available - and at the right price. After a string of relatively high-profile releases - the Ringo films, The Mercenary, Navajo Joe - it’s understandable if they want (or have) to wade in the backwaters for a while.
Of course, there are many, many more desirable titles yet to be released anywhere, but perhaps the rights simply aren’t for sale (again, at the right price). It’s no coincidence that many of the films on Koch’s list have already been put out by Wild East, or are pending. Some rights holders are clearly making a pretty penny.
I’ll certainly pick up a few of these, especially Chiedi perdono (I hope it has the intro missing from most versions). And I was disappointed by the quality of X-Rated’s Il venditore di morte, so that’ll be on the list too.
There have already been some bad or mediocre ones being released in the rainbow (Arizona Colt Returns, Road to Alamo), but nevertheless I’m always happy when I buy a new one.
Of course, what Koch does is at least to cover the whole spectrum of SWs. From trash to art, from comedy to political films, from classics to the rather unknown.
But if there are too many average films amongst them (whatever is considered as average in the eye of the customer) they begin to lose the momentum of fans buying the whole collection. If there are 10 interesting films and only 4 turkeys people might say: Ahh, I don’t care, I buy them all for the sake of having them complete. But the other way round (let’s say 5 goodies, 10 turkeys) people might then say: I only buy the good ones and skip the rest.
Depends on how fanatic or desperate the SW-fan is…
I’m desperate but I still wouldn’t buy a film by Crea. Koch Media haven’t realased them (I hope!) but it’s still rather shocking they’re available.
Hmmm… I regret, but I think I would buy it…
Maybe just because of the fact, that a flick like that is released by the top company.
I see your point.
For the forthcoming DVDs of Dead Men Ride (Knie nieder und friß Staub) and Cjamango (Django-Kreuze im blutigen Sand) the FSK rating was changed from 18 to 16.
So now there is no reason not to buy them at Amazon.de, as the FSK 18 extra charge of 5 € is dropped. I have pre-ordered all 3 for friendly 8,99 € each.
It seems that Koch has changed their approach towards FSK 18 films. If it’s for Dead Men Ride no problem to get a new FSK 16 rating, than it’s impossible they wouldn’t have got it for the Ringo films either.
already requested all three for reviewing also. yay koch media
just took a quick look at “at the end of the rainbow” (the only of the new kochs that has reached me so far), and i am thrilled. promises to be a very sinister, epic and cruel spaghetti just how i like it, with really amazing music and nice visuals… review soon (god knows when i find the time to watch it)
ok received all of them now… yay koch media
Do the three new Koch releases have English audio or English subs?
Cjamango and Hate Thy Neighbour both have english audio.
Don’t have the other one I’m afraid so can’t say about that.
Anda muchacho, spara has only english subs and Italian/German audio.
And easily the best film of the three.
Copy-pasted info from Tom Betts’ blog:
“Ulrich Bruckner, film producer, author of “Für ein paar Leichen mehr” and Director of Home Entertainment & Film Acquisitions at Koch Media GmbH head of the home cinema department at KOCH Video, has left to become Director of Acquisitions at SONY as of the first of August. After vacationing with his family for a few weeks he will relocate from Germany to Los Angeles, California. We all wish to thank Ulrich for the great releases he was responsilbe for KOCH releasing over the years and wish him all the best in his new position with SONY.”
Congrats to Mr. Bruckner but I wonder what will happen to KOCH’s spaghetti western series now? If I have understood correctly, the series was pretty much Bruckner’s solo project. With him leaving KOCH, is there any interested to continue the SW series that has never been too successful to begin with?
I know at least one another guy, who is a great SW expert, who works for Koch.
And also I think they sell now enough of them, otherwise they wouldn’t release that much in such a short time.
But it’s a loss for the SW party at Koch Media.
