Well, I’m pretty sure if I check now all the scenes which are only in the longer version, I would find this or that shot worth to include in the shorter one, and actually I also like the 2 opening minutes in the longer version, if they had not destroyed the opening shot of the shorter one. But overall, apart from that trading store scene, the longer version added nothing of interest, made the film only longer.
So… I finally watched this for the first time ever. It has its moments, but overall I found it to be rather boring. It is a bit of an odd one, and maybe that makes it interesting, but it is too much of a mess to really grab an audience.
Too bad, problem is I would like to have the Puro, but I don’t want the other 3, which I do not intend to ever watch again. They are beneath 6/10, and by that don’t need to be upgraded.
So, if there is a real El puro hater here (and the film has hate potential which is also the reason why it’s so great), I’m the one to relieve you …
Nothing should theoretically stop a non-UK label from releasing a stand alone BluRay of this film, now that HD material exists… where’s explosive media when you need it most
I never part with any SW film, no matter how crap I think it is … the collecting is like having a library or archive, I may come back to a certain film years after and think it’s not so bad as I remember … so far that hasn’t happened with, ‘God’s Gun’ or ‘Captain Apache’ , but they’re still with me, and eventually when I become totally senile I might think they’re brilliant!
I really wanted to like Boot Hill and I can’t say that I hate the film but it feels like a massive comedown after two brilliant instalments. The first 30 minutes are fantastic but that’s about it.
As for El Puro, it might be a slow film at times but I have always enjoyed it. I haven’t watched it in a while but I never found it boring.
