Really get fed of hearing about these comebacks. They never happen, just do it I say. Its like what filmmakers can speak the most crap.

Anyhow … my primary reason for joining in here was this silly idea that these projects are ever going to get off the ground - Castellari in particular has been talking about ‘Keoma 2’ for ages, and even has it listed on IMDB with very specific details on cast and crew … he’d better get a move on, or most of his principle cast will no longer be around. It’s all rather sad, and reminiscent of Guglielmo Spoletini trying to convince a producer that he has a great idea for a SW comeback, in the documentary 'L’America a Roma

Yes - I agree here too.
Leone’s “Fistful of Dollars” has some weak moments too, although at least one scene, and possibly some more, were apparently not personally directed by him.

So Gypsy’s obsession is that he not only plans to take over El Puro’s reputation, but also the smuggling racket he thinks El Puro still is running together with his old companion Fernando, who by the way betrays El Puro at the end of the film.
Wait Fernando betrays El Puro? I thought he just sort of disappears after the end duel? Is there any sort of moment in the film that validates this info?
He seems to know that specs isn’t going to show for the final duel. I can’t remember the line but he mentions it as the others are coming in.
That’s the exact moment.
What he says is: “After so many years you should know that I’m on the side always of the winner.” And then: “There will only be three of them. Specs probably won’t be here.”
How does he know?
I’ve seen this film some times, but never thought of it before now, rewatching it, after Jonathan’s post. Then some things started taking on a different meaning.
I won’t say that this moment validates such an interpretation. But at least that’s when it struck me.

Why should he fight on his side, and then betray him? Does not make much sense, and does not fit with the character.
I think it might make some sense. But as I said, this was something that came into my head only last night.
When we are introduced to Fernando, in the scene by the road, Gypsy lets him know that he knows his racket, and he offers him the options of partnership, if he gives him Puro, or death.
It seems Fernando likes neither of them. So he thinks his best option is that Puro takes care of Gypsy. In that way he will stay alive and can go on with his racket.
Fernando locates Puro, then pitches him against Gypsy, and at the same time let Gypsy discover Puro’s whereabouts.
Then, after Rosie is killed, he springs El Puro out of jail. Then he threatens Puro that he has two days to do what he promised: “And after that I’ll be on that side, and you have to get rid of me too.” When he realises Puro thinks he killed Rosie, it seems Fernando for a short moment actually considers shooting Puro in the back. Then he changes his mind and reveals that he was followed into Silver Town by one of Gypsy’s hyenas, and that Gypsy killed Rosie, again pitching Puro against Gypsy. Then he reveals Gypsy’s whereabouts to Puro.
Then Fernando shows up once more at the duel, telling Puro that Specs will not be there, as “he values his life”.
How does Fernando know this? Because he in the meantime has teamed up with Specs. He is “on the side always of the winner”.

I guess I’m either daft or I didn’t pay close enough attention (more than likely it was because the print of El Puro I watched was so damn awful I couldn’t even see anything lol) but I didn’t pick up on any of this before, but it makes sense now that you explain it. Thanks man!
We are currently working on German Subtitels for a long 104 Min. Version of El Puro.
Unfortunately our Italian is not so well an therefore translation is based on the English Dub.
As mentioned in this thread before the English Dub - in many occasions - is not a perfect translation of the italian original. After translation of the first 20 Min. there are some lines I am not really happy about…
So: Are there any Italian subtitels available or at least a translation based on that original Verison?
I only found Portuguese Subs but I am afraid that they have been translated from Spanish version…
Any advice/help?

Many Spaghettis were not released in Germany but in meantime are available as dvdr with German Fan subtitels.
EL PURO is on of the important - still missing - films.
Translation from English is not that hard work but I think it is better to base on Italian Original.
Is there anywhere I can watch this movie? I don’t understand French, so that DVD is out of the question…

As a huge fan of spaghetti, I’ve seen all the greats multiple times (and plenty of lesser works that are still fun). When I finally got to see El Puro, I was BLOWN AWAY. I absolutely LOVE this film. The first version I saw was a little grainy and washed out. Thankfully, a great-looking English version recently went up on Youtube. Check it out: The Reward's Yours...
