[Blu-ray] Latest and Upcoming Releases 📀

Django details added to calendar/database. Havent quite figured out what makes it a 5 disc edition, except if it’s also a DVD and the documentary comes on an extra disc

The soundtrack cd is included:

Still I don’t get the 3 blus.

According to Plaion’s website, Django and the documentary Django & Django will each have their own Blu Ray disc, and I’m thinking the third Blu Ray disc will have the bonus features.

weird, from the list of extras I am thinking these should easily fit on the same disc, but oh well, easier to later repackage as 2-disc set without the documentary this way

The 175m version is apparently not a director’s cut but a version found in Leone’s collection after he died. It appears to be the version submitted originally to the Italian censors which he then tweaked a little to improve the editing. It does have the ‘proper’ ending to the film though rather than the Paramount ending. I have a DVD of this - now it is OOP and not being released on Blu ray I hope to sell it in several years to finance my retirement.

A decent Blu ray release should have all the extra footage (about 9m) as deleted scenes - the scene with Morton and his toy soldiers, Morton’s original introductory scene when you hear ‘Morton’s theme’ for the first time should certainly be an extra - or else have this version as an extra.

I assume all the other deleted scenes, such as the scene in which Harmonica is beaten-up by the sheriff’s men, of which stills were published in Frayling’s Spaghetti westerns book, are lost forever and not also in Leone’s archive. That was also Keenan Wynn’s largest scene in the movie. Robert Hossein was originally going to play the role - in an archive interview on the Cemetary With Crosses Blu Ray he tells an interviewer he is going for a costume fitting for OUATITW - but dropped out due to a scheduling conflict.

Yes, this 175 min version is no DC, but it should be added as bonus disc with every OuTW release. Strange that Paramount never released the longer version. And that the Italians do not either on newer releases.

I believe the main reason being that Paramount releases what they have and/or have the rights to, and the Italians release whatever they don’t have to invest extra money in :))

Maybe, but they do the restorations meanwhile together, why not just release together one perfect Home video box?

With the on DVD and Blu yet unreleased theatrical version, and via seamless branching they could easily do this still together with the Paramount version, and with the longer version on an extra disc. And all the usual bonus material on a 3rd disc.

It was released on VHS in the '90s and then on DVD in 2000, followed by a remastered DVD three years later. CVC seem somewhat ambivalent as to whether or not this is a ‘Director’s Cut’: This version of ‘C’era una volta il West’, about 400 metres longer, is the complete one, desired by the auteur and never released in theatres. The restoration work, directed by Claver Salizzato and realised by Tonino Delli Colli, Fausto Ancillai, Alessandro Baragli, Patrizia Ceresani, with the collaboration of Ennio Morricone and Nino Baragli, was possible thanks to the intervention and contribution of Sergio Leone Productions.

Any new news on the Western all’Arrabbiata titles @Admin Seb? I was sure they’d make an announcement for the holiday shopping season.

I was hoping, too, but no. They drag this series out to the wazoo…

The French Troublemakers thing seems to have been adjusted, now listed again but no longer as a 4K. Database/calendar udpated.

Kino will release 4Ks of Kill them all… and Hellbenders in February. Same masters as those the BluRays were based on, however.

Oh damn, that’s cool and all but happy with the blu-rays of these. Really good to see them investing in 4K for SW’s though!!!

I’m pretty happy with the Koch Media/Plaion Pictures release I got in a trade with @DutchCowboy101 (thanks again buddy), but I am curious about The Ruthless Four. I just hope the Italian track is included, that’s the deal breaker for me.

Holy shit I just watched Ruthless Four for Spagvember and wished it had a blu-ray haha. Will also pick up Death Rides a Horse as I never imported the Kino.

Not super excited about the 4K as i’m not a fan of either, but i’m never gonna complain about getting Spags on 4K.
