And the Oscar goes

Just watched this trailer. Looks like it’s my kinda movie:

I’ll be watching True Grit in cinema next week (I have a short holiday because of the carnaval festivities), and will most probably watch The King’s Speech on DVD.

Both are excellent movies. Shame that True Grit got nada in the Oscar race but it means nothing to me anyway. It is a great movie and Jeff Bridges is rock solid.

i was so uninterested in this and forgot it was even oscar night last night. looking at the winners didn’t miss much. so predictable, so boring. just my opinion and nothing against anyone that likes them. i used to but lost interest years ago, around the mid 90’s i think.

Is it just me or are man with a name’s avatar pics getting closer and closer to hardcore porn lol not that I’m complaining :stuck_out_tongue:

Ha,ha…you have a point  .

Hope they keep the piranhas from the beach
Hope they keep the piranhas from the beach
it’s funny Scherp i just watched " Piranha" on dvd after seeing it and enjoying it at the cinema months ago. it’s not half as much fun on dvd and the bloody 3D doesn’t work! i was looking forward to seeing Ms Brook & friend swim naked out of the screen as they did in the cinema but it never bloody happened! :frowning: DOH!

I only saw the DVD, only 2D, but I thought Kelly was awesome
The film was good mindless fun too. The scenes with that professor from Back to the Future (can’t remember his name) were great

Christopher Lloyd.

The guy still kicking, he was great in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, (his first role I think) the rest of cast as well

Agreed. Actually I have always thought that the ensemble cast should have gotten awards. Really great film.

Just watched it. It’s all these things: bleak, well-directed, well-written and well-acted, but I still was underwhelmed, don’t know excatly why, the drama just didn’t grab me

My wife liked it better than I did, so I guess it’s mainly a matter of taste

and the oscar goes to PHANTOM SOLDIERS for the awesome opening!!!
i loved this filippino trash! ;D trash for the critics but not for the fans
fans like me of course

It dwelled somehow too much on the depressive side of life. 7/10

This year’s Oscar Nominations:

A couple of surprises (I didn’t realise how much the Academy loved Hugo), and I’m pretty pleased that The Tree of Life got three nominations (Best Picture, Best Director and Best Cinematogaphy).

Gary Oldman should get the Oscar.
He’s fantastic in Tinker tailor soldier spy. Love this movie and Oldman’s performance.

Yeah, great film! We seem to have a similair taste in films.

this one must get an award itself for being the most predictable and boring! it just gets worse every year.

I guess it’s between The Artist and Hugo, both typical Oscar movies

The Artist probably best picture, Scorsese best director, Woody best screenplay, everybody happy

Haven’t seen The Artist, but from what I’ve seen I can tell that it’s exactly the stuff the Academy likes. Hugo is a wow movie, not bad, but not vintage Scorsese either. Midnight in Paris is a better movie than Hugo, but it’s not much better than some other things Woody has done in the last decade (Match Point, Vicky, Cristina Barcelona, Cassandra’s Dream). Tree of Life won’t ever win, besides it’s not one of Malick’s better movies.
