Just watched this today. It’s too bad the greatness of this movie gets lost in the chain of cheesy sequels. Great acting by so many in this one.

I like Sharpe too but this is part of a TV series not a movie. :-\
It’s more like a movie series to me which I think it’s different from a regular normal series. I got the DVD collection as if it was a movie, normally longer than 90 minutes but the regular time of a movie. It was indeed made for TV, and I can see your point, but I never saw the serie at the time, they showed in Portuguese TV, only see it in DVD like a film, so I would called more a movie series with several episodes.
Sharpe’s Rifles is part of a TV series, so I’m not counting it. Sorry.
